Our mission
We are passionate about VAT and our goal is to help you to understand the functioning of the EU VAT system. Sharing knowledge and expertise is our way to learn and go in-depth into the subjects. Our expertise has taught us to ask the relevant questions to get the complete picture. Together we will do our best to answer those questions.
About VATinsights.org
This project is born with the need to offer expert VAT advice and tailored VAT training to businesses, companies and tax administrations. In this context, it came natural to create in parallel a platform for sharing the insights of the most important VAT developments in the EU. The aim is to cover all the relevant VAT developments happening at an EU level – some EU country specific examples will be given when considered necessary. The information provided will be presented as practical as possible going beyond the obvious.
Our corporate language is English but none of us is an English native speaker, so please bear with us for any linguistic error.
About Jordi Sol
I am a VAT expert with more than 15 years of experience. I am used to work internationally and remotely within a truly multicultural environment. The EU VAT system is my area of expertise plus a good sound of other VAT/GST jurisdictions. I have experience as a tax/VAT lawyer, consultant, litigator, project manager, trainer, lecturer and researcher.
I have been involved in many domestic and cross border VAT projects as well as delivered a great number of VAT trainings. Other main areas of specialization are comparative analysis on how countries have implemented specific VAT subjects and study of the business impact of VAT case law.
Before founding VATinsights.org I have been the VAT manager at IBFD (Amsterdam) and worked as a tax lawyer /consultant for different law firms in Barcelona.

- Currently acting as a train the trainer and head of technical excellence.
- VAT lecturer at advanced master´s international tax law (LLM; University of Amsterdam).
- Lecturer at Master in Tax Law at the University Politecnica de Catalunya (UPC).
- VAT expert for the OECD Workshops on the VAT/GST OECD guidelines (China and South Korea).
- International Training on Best Global Practices of GST/VAT – Sindh Reveue Board (Karachi, Pakistan).
- Lecturer at the EU VAT introductory course provided to the European Commission DG TAXUD
- Designer and lecturer at the IBFD VAT courses and tailored courses addressed to an international audience.
- Speaker at seminars on VAT Law at the Spanish Association of Tax Advisors (www.aedaf.es).
- Speaker at seminars on Tax Law at Academia Adams (Barcelona) (www.adams.es).
